Nestled between the city of Fairfax and the town of Vienna, Oakton is a wonderful community with close proximity to Tysons Corner, Fair Oaks Mall, Route 50, and the Vienna Metro.  With its close proximity to Washington D.C., Oakton was named by CNNMoney.com in 2008 as a great place to live. Its lovely lots offer glimpses of the Virginia countryside.

Dining

Foodies can eat their way up and down Route 123 in both Oakton and Vienna. Some of our favorite spots are Maplewood Grill, Bazins on Church St, Yama for Japanese, Sunflower for Vegetarian, and for great sandwiches and custard, Nielsens Frozen Custard.

Parks and Recreation

Oak Marr RECenter operated by Fairfax County has a heated Olympic-sized indoor pool with spa, beach and wading area, plus a diving complex with one-meter and three-meter boards and a five-meter tower. Two racquetball courts - one with walleyball capacity, Fitness Center with Cybex VR2 equipment, sauna, showers with fully equipped locker rooms and classrooms are also available. Adjoining the RECenter is the Oak Marr Golf Complex.

Other parks in Oakton include Tattersall Park, Ashlawn Park, Nottoway Park, and Villa D'Este Park.

Living

Oakton has numerous condominium, townhouse, and single family home communities. Some, but certainly not all, include: Berryland Farm, Cinnamon Ridge, Cyrandall Valley, Oak Marr Court, The Oakton, and Waples Mill Estates.

Education

Primary and secondary schools: Fairfax County Public Schools operates the public schools. There are two public schools located in Oakton: Oakton Elementary School and Waples Mill Elementary School. Flint Hill School, a private school, is located in Oakton. The Northern Virginia Friends School, Dominion Christian School and The Montessori School of Oakton are also in Oakton. Students may also attend Flint Hill Elementary School, Luther Jackson Middle School or Henry David Thoreau Middle School in Vienna.

Local high schools are Oakton High School and James Madison High School. Both schools have Vienna, VA mailing addresses because they are serviced by the Vienna Post Office. Public Libraries: Fairfax County Public Library operates the Oakton Library.
