Vienna Virginia Real Estate

Vienna is a town in Fairfax County, Virginia. In July 2005, CNN/Money and Money magazine ranked Vienna fourth on its list of the 100 best places to live in the United States. In addition to highly ranked public schools, its assets include a downtown with many small businesses and great places to eat, a Washington Metrorail station with large parking garages (the western terminus of the Orange Line) just south of the town, and a portion of the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park hiker/biker trail cutting through the center of the town. Tysons Corner is nearby, as is Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.

Shopping and Dining

There are hundreds of shopping and dining opportunities in the Town of Vienna as well as neighboring Tysons Corner.  Tyson's Corner, a development that straddles Vienna and McLean, includes Tysons Corner and Tysons Galleria malls that together are the 11th largest mall in the country.  They include numerous high end dining and shopping attractions.  Fair Oaks Mall is also a short drive away. As for dining out, foodies can eat their way up and down Route 123 in both Oakton and Vienna. Some of our favorite spots are Maplewood Grill, Bazins on Church St, Yama for Japanese, Sunflower for Vegetarian, and for great sandwiches and custard, Nielsens Frozen Custard.

Parks and Recreation

The Town of Vienna is dedicated to providing quality programs and facilities. They continually strive to offer a variety of activities, classes, programs, camps and trips for people of all ages. They sponsor special events throughout the year including the annual July 4th Festival and Fireworks, the Halloween Parade, Oktoberfest and numerous other holiday and special events. They maintain and preserve numerous parks, stream valleys, athletic fields, landscape beds and right of ways throughout the Town. They take care of the Town trees and streetscapes along Maple Avenue as well as the grounds at Town owned buildings.

The Vienna Community Center is the main location for the Parks and Recreation Department. They schedule and allocate space for all activities and user groups. Most classes and programs are held there. The Community Center is also the location of our business and staff offices.

The four major parks (Northside, Southside, Glyndon, and Meadow Lane) include tennis courts, baseball fields, picnic tables, playground equipment, nature trails, and hiking and biking trails. The pavilions at Glyndon and Meadow Lane Parks may be reserved for picnics.

Just a 5 minute ride in Oakton is the Oak Marr RECenter. Operated by Fairfax County has a heated Olympic-sized indoor pool with spa, beach and wading area, plus a diving complex with one-meter and three-meter boards and a five-meter tower. Two racquetball courts - one with walleyball capacity, Fitness Center with Cybex VR2 equipment, sauna, showers with fully equipped locker rooms and classrooms are also available. Adjoining the RECenter is the Oak Marr Golf Complex.

If your planning a wedding or a special event be sure to visit Meadowlark Botanical Gardens  and for shows and music the Wolftrap National Park for Performing Arts is close by.

Transportation

The Town of Vienna and its surrounding zip-codes are bordered approximately by Interstate 66 on the south, Interstate 495 on the east, Route 7 to the north, and Hunter Mill road.  The Washington Metro's last stop on the Orange Line is at Vienna at the intersection of Route 66 and Nutley.

Education

The Town and zip-codes of Vienna are served by Fairfax County Public Schools. Fairfax County has been perennially rated one of the best public school systems in the country. Vienna is home to two high schools (Oakton and Madison), two middle schools, and six elementary schools. However, of all the schools Vienna students attend, only four elementary schools: Cunningham Park Elementary School, Marshall Road Elementary School, Louise Archer Elementary School, and Vienna Elementary School are actually located in the official town limits.

Living

Within the mailing addresses that encompass Vienna, you can have any type of housing you want.  From a condo that is walk to metro, to an estate with acreage, from new construction, to a historic property, Vienna has something for everyone. Some but certainly not all subdivisions include Barristers Place, Beulah Heights, Carrington, Clarks Crossing, Colvin Glen, Country Creek, Courthouse Station, Cyrandall Valley, Dunn Loring Village, Edgelea Woods, Hunter Mill Estates, Tamarack, Tysons Woods, and Vienna Woods. Not in the town of Vienna, but with a Vienna mailing address is the Mosaic District—an about to be built “town center” by the Dunn Loring Metro. Close by townhouses in the Mosaic District include Providence Park.
